Chondroitin is an acidic mucopolysaccharide found in cartilage, skin, cornea, and umbilical cord. It is composed of alternating N-acetylgalactosamine, D-glucuronic acid, and sulfate residues in equimolar quantities that can be sulfated on either of its subunits.
