Panthenol (also called pantothenol) is the alcohol analog of pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), and is thus a provitamin of B5. In organisms it is quickly oxidized to pantothenic acid. It is a viscous transparent liquid at room temperature.
P 1290 (OTTO) D-Pantothanol, 98% Cas 81-13-0 - used in a variety of skin protection products. D-pantothenic acid have a role in controlling keratinocyte proliferation and differentiation. D-Panthenol is used for studies of skin protection emulsions from UV irradiation and as a humectant. It is also used in creams, lotions, shampoos, conditioners and body washes.
