Synonyms: Zirconia, Zirconium dioxide
Zirconium dioxide (ZrO2), sometimes known as zirconia (not to be confused with zircon), is a white crystalline oxide of zirconium. Its most naturally occurring form, with a monoclinic crystalline structure, is the mineral baddeleyite.
Z 2673 (OTTO) Zirconium(IV) oxide, 99.95% Cas 1314-23-4 - used as an additive in the production of piezoelectric crystals, in high-frequency induction coils and in ceramic glazes. It finds application as solid electrolyte in electrochromic devices and precursor to the electroceramic lead zirconate titanate (PZT), as insulator in transistors, as a thermal barrier coating in jet and diesel engines and as diamond simulant in jewelry. It is used in oxygen sensors, fuel cell membranes and in orthopaedic implants of hip joints.
