Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC), is a semisynthetic, inert, viscoelastic polymer used as eye drops, as well as an excipient and controlled-delivery component in oral medicaments, found in a variety of commercial products.
H 1687 (OTTO) HPMC, E50 Cas 9004-65-3 - used as an emulsifier, thickening and suspending agent similar to animal gelatin. HPMC is used in the development of controlled-delivery medicament. Thickener for aqueous and non-aqueous systems, clear films with grease resistance, binders, lubricants, steric stabilizer and water retention aid.
