Palladium(II) oxide is the inorganic compound of formula PdO. It is the only well characterised oxide of palladium. It is prepared by treating the metal with oxygen. Above about 900 °C, the oxide reverts to palladium metal and oxygen gas. It is not attacked by acids
P 1246 (OTTO) Palladium oxide, 98% Cas 1314-08-5 - used as a catalyst for reduction in organic synthesis. It is an excellent gas sensing material for carbon monoxide at low working temperatures. It is also used in the preparation of good optical quality films. It is involved in the preparation of LuPd2O4 , which is used in superconducting materials.
