Synonyms: Cerous fluoride
Cerium(III) fluoride (or cerium trifluoride), CeF3, is an ionic compound of the rare earth metal cerium and fluorine. Cerium(III) fluoride is the important raw material for polishing powder, special glass, metallurgical applications. It appears as a mineral in the form of fluocerite-(Ce).
C 1782 (OTTO) Cerium(III) fluoride, GR 99.9% Cas 7758-88-5 - used to make Lewis acid. It is considered to be the most effective glass polishing agent for high precision optical polishing. Cerium fluoride used as a core additive to improve the properties of the eventual weld. The fluoride provides stability to the arc and also modifies the behavior of the molten metal flowing into the weld.
