Aloe emodin (1,3,8-trihydroxyanthraquinone) is an anthraquinone and a variety of emodin present in aloe latex, an exudate from the aloe plant. It has a strong stimulant-laxative action.
A 1861 (OTTO) Aloe-emodin, 90% Cas 481-72-1 - used as a standard in high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) for separation and identification of phenolic compounds in Aloe arborescens Miller var. natalensis Berger (Kidachi aloe).
