Synonyms: 5-Bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl β-D-galactoside, BCIG, X-Gal
5-Bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl b-D-galactopyranoside (X-Gal) is a histochemical substrate for β-galactosidase. X-Gal is cleaved by β-galactosidase to yield an insoluble blue preceipitate.
B 2098 (OTTO) 5-Bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl β-D-galactopyranoside, 98% Cas 7240-90-6 - used to detect activity of this enzyme in histochemistry and bacteriology. It is employed as a colorless, endogenous or exogenous pigment precursors that may be transformed by biological mechanisms into colored compounds. B 2098 (OTTO) 5-Bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl β-D-galactopyranoside, 98% Cas 7240-90-6 - used in biochemical assays and in diagnosis as indicators, particularly in the form of enzyme substrates. X-Gal is the substrate of choice for blue-white selection of recombinant bacterial colonies with the lac+ genotype.
