para-Dimethylaminobenzaldehyde is an organic compound containing amine and aldehyde moieties which is used in Ehrlich's reagent and Kovac's reagent to test for indoles.
D 1947 (OTTO) p-Dimethylaminobenzaldehyde, GR 99%+ Cas 100-10-7 - used to prepare colorful Schiff base adducts with amines, pyrroles and indoles. It is often used in the Ehrlich reaction, test for the presence of indoles in a sample containing alkaloids and determination of hydrazine.
